After doing living history for 20 some years I feel bad for the people who cannot sew for themselves. I think that is most clear when I think of the civil war reenactor. When we joined, it took me all season just to make the under pinnings for the 3 girls in our family. I need to buy stock in a muslin factory. I must of used 30 yards! Now compound that with having to pay for the construction! The sutlers do what they can but.... it would be helpful if the ladies and children's clothing was more correct. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I have never seen a ladies chemise in the shops. Are they there and I am just flying by them or am I right?

I've really only seen one place that makes and sells Civil War chemises.  http://www.verymerryseamstress.com/civil.htm has two that they sell.  The chemises are towards the middle of the page.

I hope that helps.

Thanks.. we still need the sutlers, who come to our events, to carry them. I hope we see them at Roaring Camp.:)
